Museums in Motion, a traveling African American museum, will present an intriguing exhibit on African Americans firsts, scientists, inventors, sports heroes and legends from February 12-16 in the Spain Park High School Library. Museums in Motion is based in Princeton, NJ and provides educational museum exhibits to schools and colleges around the country. We invite teachers, students, parents, and community members to visit this unique museum as we revisit history and enlighten minds on phenomenal people & milestones dating from 1917 to 2015. Individuals such as Garrett Morgan, Mae Jemison, Josh Gibson, Lena Horne, The Jackson 5 and more will be featured.
Take a walk through the 60's and absorb the gallantry of the first two African-American college students who enrolled at The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. We encourage and invite all to attend this educational event as we pay tribute to these amazing African American heroes. Visitors must sign in at the front desk. Museum hours are 7:00am-3:35pm.
