The Hunger Challenge raises money for Hoover Helps, a local non-profit that is focused on providing food to children in need. Some friendly competition will help make sure students aren't going hungry. This year the fundraiser is on October 12th at the Hoover vs. Spain Park football game. Let's see which fans can raise the most money this year. There are children in every community that are food insecure. Many get their best meals in the form of free breakfast and lunch at school. Backpack feeding programs send food home with these children so that they have food over the weekend. 15 faith-based organizations are helping sponsor schools and making this important initiative a reality. There are currently 419 Hoover elementary and middle school children that are participating in backpack programs plus over 200 others being helped in some way. 100% of the money raised at the Hunger Challenge will go directly into programs that help Hoover children. Donations can be made now at hooverhelps.org and at the game! Let the games begin! Remember, it's a battle on and off the field. Hoover won last year by raising $6,462 vs. $4,111 for Spain Park
